H2 and Mixed-Hz/H, Stable Stabilization
In certain applications the use of stable compensators greatly simplifies controller testing and implementation. Unfortunately, standard LQG theory, as well as mixednorm H2/H, theory, may yield compensators that are unstable. The problem of synthesizing stable stabilizing controllers has been of interest for many years [14], and a variety of techniques have been proposed based on modifications ...

to discrete-time systems. Specifically, several modifications to the closed-loop discrete-time Lyapunov equation are proposed that guarantee that the compensator dynamics are stable. Using fixed-structure controller optimiztion techniques sufficient conditions for stable compensators with suboptimal H a performance can readily be derived. designing continuous-time stable dynamic compensators z(...
متن کاملCentral Suboptimal H∞ Filter Design for Linear Time-Varying Systems with State Delay
This paper presents the central finite-dimensional H∞ filters for linear systems with state delay, that are suboptimal for a given threshold γ with respect to a modified BolzaMeyer quadratic criterion including the attenuation control term with the opposite sign. In contrast to the results previously obtained for linear time delay systems, the paper reduces the original H∞ filtering problems to...
متن کاملFixed-Structure H2 Controller Design for Polytopic Systems Via LMIs
In this paper a new approach for fixed-structure H2 controller design in terms of solutions to a set of linear matrix inequalities are given. Both discreteand continuous-time single-input single-output (SISO) timeinvariant systems are considered. Then the results are extended to systems with polytopic uncertainty. The presented methods are based on an inner convex approximation of the non-conve...
متن کاملMolecular recognition and packing frustration in a helical protein
Biomolecular recognition entails attractive forces for the functional native states and discrimination against potential nonnative interactions that favor alternate stable configurations. The challenge posed by the competition of nonnative stabilization against native-centric forces is conceptualized as frustration. Experiment indicates that frustration is often minimal in evolved biological sy...
